Wild Oolong tea plants were discovered growing in a long-abandoned farm. This unique Tie Guan Yin tea is a highly “fermented” or oxidized Oolong with very tightly rolled leaves that resemble a roughly rolled black tea. This classic oolong is produced with black tea techniques, resulting in a sublime interpretation of the classic tie guan yin’s intense floral notes with an interesting splash of black tea richness. While the exterior appearance of this great tea isn’t the most beautiful, one sip will take you to a world of floral and rich flavor notes, unlike any other black or oolong teas. This Tie Guan Yin’s exceptional floral notes and mild reddish cup are not easily found in today’s Oolong teas. We are sure that you will find this tea most memorable and we can’t wait for you to try it.
GROWING REGION
Fujian, China: Fujian is a coastal province in southeastern China where the finest oolong, white, and jasmine teas are produced. According to the written record, teas have been produced there for well over 1,600 years. Growers currently produce five different categories of tea, most of which originated in the province.
BREWING INSTRUCTIONS
This Wild Tie Guan Yin Black Tea may be prepared in many ways, but for best results we recommend to fill a pre-warmed teapot 1/4 with tea leaves and cover with hot, but less than boilling water 85-95ºC (185-203ºF) and infuse for 2-3 minutes, depending on desired intensity. Use a lower water temp for more floral notes, heighten water temp for more intensity. Pour out into a pitcher or directly into warmed tasting cups and enjoy. Always adjust quantity of leaves, infusion time, and water temperature according to your personal preferences each time.
Floral and intense at the same time. Truly lovely. I just received 1 oz. as a gift, and I am buying 3/4 lb. to stock up on it. I've never seen or tasted this before. Highly recommend.
