From the famed Giddapahar Tea Estate in the Himalayas. Giddapahar is one of the most respected Darjeeling gardens, known for producing hand-crafted Darjeeling with the elusive “muscatel” flavors. This is one of the most beautiful first-flush Darjeelings we've seen in recent times. Its floral aroma mixes with exotic spices and honey notes. The infusion is a bright yellow color with just a hint of reddish-pink.
Currently, Darjeelings with more floral notes are trending. This means first-flush Darjeelings are being produced with virtually no "fermentation" and a minimal amount of rolling. The unfortunate result is that notes of astringency and raw harshness that can be off-putting to many tea drinkers. We are pleased that this harvest of fine first-flush Darjeeling came with the right amount of rolling and "fermentation," resulting in a smooth and full-bodied cup with interesting spice and floral notes. We can't wait for you to try it!
GROWING REGION
Darjeeling, India: Darjeeling is in the northeastern district of West Bengal, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Tea cultivation began here in 1841.
BREWING INSTRUCTIONS
Instead of brewing this like a black tea as Darjeelings are known to be, we suggest that you treat this like a green tea. Try low-temperature steepings with fewer leaves than normal to yield results that you may have not thought possible. As always, it is important to start out with good water in order to get the best out of your tea. If more strength is desired, or lemon and honey are added, use near-boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
As someone who hasn't tried green Darjeeling, I didn't know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised with that characteristic flavor coming thru in a unmistakable way. Thanks for a great option for those of us who love tea from this district!

Terrific flavor. Reminds me a bit of Sword of the Emperor (a bit of apricot flavor?). I brew 2.5 tsp. at 163 degrees F for 1.5 minutes for the first cup.
Can brew 4-5 gaiwans before the flavor dies out. Amazing.
