A unique and well-known style of green tea popularized in Japan. Sencha’s deep green color and distinctively fresh, grassy flavor come from special steam processing during manufacture.
Sencha is a delicate green tea, and it is important to treat it with care to avoid excessive bitterness when brewing. Therefore we recommend using water no hotter than 70C (158F) and preferrably somewhere between 55 and 65C (131-149F). After pre-warming the steeping cup or teapot fill with approximately 3-5 grams of leaf 10-12 oz of water and infuse for 2-3 minutes. If prepared in this way Sencha should yield several infusions. Always adjust quantity of leaves, infusion time, and water temperature according to your personal preferences.
I HAVE BEEN BUYING TEA HERE FOR 30 YEARS. IT’S ALWAYS A REAL PAIN IN THE ASS USING YOUR TERRIBLE WEBSITE ORDER PAGE. IT ALWAYS TELLS ME I HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS AFTER ASKING FOR ONE. NUTS/ YOU BET. ROY REALLY NEEDS TO UPDATE HIS ORDERING PROCEDURE ON LINE. IT’S BEEN A PAIN NOW FOR YEARS!
Glad to be able to support the business, hoping to continue so for many years to come.
It is hard finding loose good Chinese tea.
Every tea I have ever purchased from Imperial Tea Court is amazing! I do miss visiting them at the Ferry Building for lunch and tea service, but they have been prompt with filling my online orders and it’s such a thoughtful touch to send a few masks along with my order. Can wait to come back in for your tea noodles!
I’m a lover of Imperial Dragon Well but as you know it’s expensive to drink everyday. So, my daily substitute is Sencha. That should say a lot!
Very nice tea. Hardy, robust taste.
