Huoshan Huang Ya
$9.00 – $33.00 — available on subscription
Large lovingly hand-crafted leaves and downy silver buds make up this attractive “yellow bud” tea of Anhui province, one of the few rare yellow teas that are currently available. The Huo Shan Huang Ya is a fascinating product notable for the deeply full-bodied character of its infusion. Rich, full, and smooth, green tea drinkers will appreciate the opportunity to sample this rare treasure.
Anhui, China: Anhui is a province in southeastern China, widely known for producing black teas in the late 1800’s. A number of excellent green teas grow here as well as the famous qi men (or keemun) black tea.
To prepare Huo Shan Huang Ya we recommend infusion in a traditional covered steeping cup (although a regular teapot is also serviceable). Place 1-2 teaspoons of leaf into a pre-warmed Gaiwan and fill with with 65-75C (149-158F). Infuse for 1 to 2 minutes, cover and drink or pour out into tasting cups. Huo Shan Huang Ya may be brewed multiple times by gradually increasing steeping time and water temperature.
