Huang Shan Mao Feng
DESCRIPTION
Huang Shan Mao Feng is one of th most prized teas of China, so when we ran into this small batch of exceptional tea we just couldn’t stop ourselves from buying the entire lot. This batch of Huang Shan Mao Feng exhibits a gentle wisp of hickory-like smokiness. The tea is forgiving enough that it can be infused in very hot water without excessive bitterness, yet rich and flavorful enough to stand up to the hardy and spicy foods that the people of Huang Shan love. This is a green tea that is absolutely a treasured find for any expert tea aficionados or beginners alike.
GROWING REGION
Anhui, China: Anhui is a province in southeastern China, widely known for producing black teas in the late 1800’s. A number of excellent green teas grow here as well as the famous qi men (or keemun) black tea.
BREWING SUGGESTIONS
Huang Shan Mao Feng comes from the Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) of Anhui Province, known for both beautiful scenery and exceptional water. As a result, this tea should be prepared with a great tasting water in order to reveal its full potential. We suggest 3-5 grams of tea per 6 oz water, infuse with hot but not boiling water for 1-2 minutes, depending on the intensity desired. Always adjust quantity of leaves, infusion time, and water temperature according to your personal preferences.
This is an interesting green which is an easy brew – forgiving if you oversteep and a nice flavor over multiple steepings. Well worth a try.
