DESCRIPTION

This beautiful work of art is our first offering from the Hubei Province. It shares its name with the famous Japanese Gyokuro—gyokuro means “jade dew” in Japanese, and yu lu is the Chinese translation. The production methods are also similar, as both teas are cooked with hot steam to arrest oxidation, resulting in a dark green leaf color. The Chinese method of producing this Yu Lu is entirely by hand, and extraordinary care is taken to ensure that the unique “three greens” is achieved. The goal is to produce fully intact, dark green pine needle leaves with a jade green color cup. And after infusion, the leaves should remain jade green. This is a tea that needs your participation to truly shine. Sweet, good tasting water, a light temperature infusion and correct steeping time must be observed in order for it to showcase the special “three greens” along with its smooth silky texture and mouth-feel.

BREWING SUGGESTIONS

Due to the small shape of this tea, we suggest that you weigh the amount of tea leaves used instead of “eyeballing”, at least until you get to know the tea a little bit. We recommend using the general green tea techniques we have been preaching for years. Start with good tasting water at a low temperature, then adjust to your own preferences.
