Contemporary Classic Yixing Teapot

One of our most popular teapots ever! This charming little teapot has the elegant simplicity of a classic design. It features a smooth, round body with a straight spout, a profile that’s unadorned yet forceful, simple and pleasing to the eye. It’s made with a superior grade of clay that provides rich color and the smooth, silky gloss that typifies good yixing. The wide body gives the leaves plenty of room to expand, while the domed lid allows better air circulation during steeping. We created this pot by changing the typical design of a shui ping hu. We flattened it a bit to give it a larger opening and a wider interior to allow more leaf expansion. Also we made the spout more pointy to provide better water flow during pouring. Despite the modest price this is an attractive, high quality teapot that will appeal to beginners as well as aficionados.
