This is a tea brick made to celebrate the establishment of the China Tea Import and Export Corporation’s 60th anniversary. Using their decades-old, tried and true production formula, also known as recipe 7581, this shou (or dark/cooked) Puerh brick is formulated to produce a deep ruby red cup, full bodied mouth-feel and rich flavor without astringency. This is a collectable tea that is priced for everyday drinking.
Puerh teas, in general, are rather strong in nature but that doesn't mean you have to give it the old boiling water treatment each and every time. In fact, we always suggest that you explore various brewing techniques by experimenting with steeping time, temperature and quantity of leaves used. In our cupping experience, we used near boiling water (always good, fresh and clean water) for quick successive brewing, the steeping is always subject to how much tea you use and how much intensity you want in your tea, for higher intensity, use near boil or boiling water for slightly longer steeping time, increase intensity further by using more tea, to taste more of the subtle flavors and floral and fruity notes, use lower temperature water for longer steepings, always adjust the temperature, steeping time and quantity of tea use according to your personal preference, use a puerh knife or similar tool to gently break apart your tea cakes or tea bricks to be used.
