This exceptional Organic Kabusecha is our first offering from the famed Kagashima region of Japan. This Kabusecha is produced using the “shading method” where the tea is shaded, blocking out 90% of sunlight for up to 20 days and then harvested by hand. Teas produced using this method are higher in L-Theanine and amino acids, which contributes to its unique flavors. High quality Japanese green teas are unmatched in concentrated flavors and a dense, full-body texture with savory umami that can only be found in teas of this calibre.

Very delicate floral green--so light it's like tasting what you're "seeing" as tiny green growth pops up in Spring.

This is now my favorite tea, and I've had many green teas from Imperial Tea Court over the years.  The outstanding umami, the bright green color, the aroma of grassy fields creates a kind of alchemical blend of tea as I've never tasted before.  It took me awhile to find the best technique for brewing, as I wanted a pot of tea, not the gaiwan style.  The fine texture clogged the tiny holes of my Yixing tea pots.  I now use a 400ml cup with spout, made in Japan that has a large detachable strainer that allows the tea to swirl freely, but strains it so it's able to pour out.  Water temp is 165 F.   I resteep several times, adding additional tea as needed.  I feel fortunate to have discovered this tea, thanks to a sample that was included in my usual order of Dragon Well or Everyday green.  Thank you Roy!

5 of 5 addendum to my review April 2, 2020

I had previously written how much I've enjoyed this amazing tea for so many reasons.  The temperature at which I brew this tea is the recommended 65C.  (not 165F, as I had mistakenly written).
