In Chinese mythology the peach is symbolic of longevity. The queen mother of the Jade Emperor (the King of the Heaven) holds special banquets to celebrate the heaven's peach harvest, all immortals of good standing are invited. These heavenly peaches are said to aid in the continued improvement of the immortal's magical power to longevity.
