Brewing Suggestions

Zhejiang province has long been one of China's green tea destinations. In the days of Lu Yu, the tea sage who wrote The Scripture of Tea, he advised that the best tea leaves to pick are the new shoots that still contain a bit of purplish color. The fact that the color purple has always symbolized prestige was used only by members of the court or Royalty, makes it logical that teas like our Organic Purple Bamboo were also  tribute teas during the Tang Dynasty.

Although people of all nationalities can now enjoy this exceptional tea, a good organic version is still difficult to find. And due to the increasing prices because of the increased demand, we have decided to offer two different grades of Organic Purple Bamboo so that more folks can enjoy the good fortune of sipping this excellent tea.

As usual, the Organic Purple Bamboo is rich in flavor but also forgiving in nature so you can brew it almost any way you like and be likely to enjoy good results. We do recommend using a fine porcelain gaiwan with low to mid temperature water and simply let the tea do it magic.
Brew with a mid to high temperature range to bring out more flavor. Allow the liquor to cool a bit before drinking to bring out the silky texture.

PREPARATION:
Purple Bamboo may be prepared in either a teapot or standard 6-ounce gaiwan. Use 3-5 grams of leaf per 6-8 ounces of water and infuse with approximately 175 F water. Steep 2-3 minutes. Adjust the steeping time and brewing temperature as well as the quantity of leaves used for each infusion to achieve your personal preference.
