Organic Gunpowder Tea

Organic Gunpowder*:

Gunpowder is one of the best known and widely drunk green teas in the world. Also known as the Green Pearl for its pleasing shape and color, our certified organic Gunpowder is produced in Zhejiang province under strict IMO supervision by rolling large, tender leaves into evenly sized little balls which "blossom" under hot water to produce a full, rich and smooth cup of refreshing green tea. Excellent as a hearty breakfast or afternoon tea or served with food anytime.

To prepare Gunpowder tea we recommend either a full-sized teapot or standard sized 6 oz Gaiwan. Use about half 3 grams of leaves per Gaiwan or per 10 oz of water, infuse with 70-75C (158-167F) water for 1-2 minutes. Because Gunpowder tea leaves are rather large and take a while to open fully, they may be re-infused several times.

Very Smooth Taste April 2, 2016

This is my first tea purchase from Imperial. I was searching for Gunpowder and was impressed by the "organic" advertisement which I hope is true because of the pesticide concerns I have with certain tea growers. I have to say that I love this tea. I drink it every day. I will definitely buy other teas from Imperial, but this tea has a really nice smooth taste. When I first steeped the tea, the golden brown reminded me of Oolong tea which I thought was interesting. I usually steep longer than the recommended 1-2 min just because I like the stronger taste from this tea.

Sooo Good April 19, 2015

I find the organic gunpowder tea makes the smoothest and most flavorful green tea to be found anywhere. I also enjoy adding some spearmint to the pot to give it a little more zip.
