Brewing Suggestions

This top ten famous tea of China comes from the prestigious tea growing region of China's Liu An county of the Anhui province. The unusual name of Gua Pian is said to come from the flat shaped leaf tea when compared to the appearance of a unripe white watermelon seed (Gua Zi in Chinese). Liu An Gua Pian enjoys a long and illustrious history as one of the most prized teas since the Tang Dynasty.
So prized that the Qing Empress Dowager Ci Xi demanded 14 taels (about 37 grams per tael) of Guan Pian tea monthly for her personal consumption. This exemplary green tea has also been presented to Mr. Putin as a gift during his visit to China. While we do not suggest that Ci Xi and Mr. Putin are related in anyway, we do know that Liu An Gua Pian's excellent nutty flavor and its forgiving natures will certainly be more approachable and may even be more enjoyable to meet in person than either one of them. Don't take our word for it, try it for yourself!

Preparation:

Liu An Gua Pian is suited to preparation using traditional methods for green teas. Allow about one teaspoon of leaves per person and infuse 1-2 minutes with water no hotter than 70C (158F). Liu An Gua Pian may be re-steeped several times.
