  Imperial Green Oolong
Imperial Green Oolong - Chosen from the famed Fu Shao Shan region of Taiwan, this year’s harvest complies with our in-house standard for these Oolongs of the highest quality. The large, hand-rolled leaves help to develop this tea’s unique flavors.


 


Taiwan, previously known as Formosa, started producing tea in the 1700's and is known today for oolong, green and black teas.

The 2013 spring harvest Imperial Green Oolong was selected from the famed Fu Shao Shan area, where Taiwan’s most prized and sought-after Oolongs are now produced. This year’s production fills all our Imperial requirements for green style Oolongs. The large, hand-rolled leaves in uniform size and color are shown off brilliantly. And the nice lilac floral notes that begin from the dried leaves continue into the cup. This harvest’s fully enveloping texture and viscosity, the silky smooth sweetness and long lasting aftertaste are essential characteristics for our Imperial Green Oolong standards.

There is only one thing missing, which is the excessive vegetal bitterness that is sometimes displayed by top quality green Oolongs. The lack of over powering astringency allows us to cup this year’s harvest at a higher strength (5 gms. per 4 oz. of water), bringing out every one of the desired elements in full force. Flavorful, elegant, and robust, this tea surely won’t disappoint. Unfortunately, 5 lbs. of this great Oolong have already been reserved for those on our waiting list.
