Puerh - Cake
Ban Zhang Green Puerh Cake, Vintage 2006
Ban Zhang Puerh is notable for its strong character and its suitability for long-term aging. The leaf is typically a dark yellowish-green, with mature flavors that produce a big, chewy, and concentrated mouth-feel. The intensity and harshness of Ban Zhang Puerh make it most suitable for long-term aging in more humid environments. If you are one of those people who are taking a long-term view with respect to a Puerh Tea collection, this is a tea of good value worth adding to your collection.
The compressed and large-leaf nature of this green puerh requires hot water to fully extract its flavors. We recommend using a pre-warmed standard 6 oz. gaiwan; fill with 3-5 grams of leaves, cover with lid, and steep in near-boiling water for 1-3 minutes. Adjust steeping time, temperature, and quantity of leaves according to your personal preference. A few trials may be needed to find your own "comfort" level. Remember to drain your tea into another vessel to avoid over-steeping.
