This unique pear-shaped pot is made from fine aged Duan-ni, a prized yellowish clay from Yixng. It is further mixed with a fine, sandy clay. This process, also known as tiao-sha, or "mixed sand", results in a beautiful, golden-hued, sandy textured teapot which resembles a perfectly ripe pear. Aside from the enhanced aesthetic, this process makes for a more porous teapot--one that readily absorbs the characteristic flavors of a particular tea quickly. The gently curving spout and delicately rounded handle balance well with the slanting shoulder, creating a sense of harmony and stability. The pot handles well, pours smoothly, with a deep, firmly seated lid. A lively well executed design, which is a joy to use.
